About CLEWATEC

A multidisciplinary and collective approach

The Clean Water Technology Lab – CLEWATEC, a Helmholtz Innovation Lab located at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf – HZDR, is an interface between research and industry where new ideas for sustainable water treatment are continuously tested and developed into breakthrough technological applications. As part of HZDR, CLEWATEC is based at the Department of Experimental Thermal Fluid Dynamics at the Institute of Fluid Dynamics.

As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest research association in Germany, and DRESDEN-Concept, a regional group of leading scientific institutions, CLEWATEC is in a privileged position to conduct cutting-edge research in several fields related to water treatment systems.

Through long-term strategic collaborations with an extensive network that includes universities, wastewater treatment plant operators and technology suppliers, we identify the urgent problems of the industry and work together to develop and apply innovative solutions. We evaluate the questions that arise from the application to come up with new ideas for improvement in an iterative process that benefits all partners involved.
